Alexander Wang’s fashion story is one to aspire to. Born in San Francisco, the designer moved to New York to undertake a course at the city’s prestigious Parsons School for Design, dropping out in 2005 to start his own line of knitwear. Starting his eponymous label with the help of his business-minded sister-in-law, the pair launched a collection of six unisex knits that most notably garnered the attention of Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg. Two years later and the brand debuted at NYFW prompting buyers, stylists and editors to clamor for its grungy, sport-inspired staples. Universally known as the uniform of choice for off-duty models; worn-in tees, structured cotton shirts and cropped sweatshirts offer a plethora of styling options. Layer-up fine-jersey pieces to perfect transitional dressing, choosing contemporary styles like leather bralettes and open-knit mesh sweaters to make an impression at parties and openings.
