Alexander Wang was born and raised in San Francisco, moving to New York at just 18 to enroll on a course at the city’s famous Parsons school. Quickly the designer realized study wasn’t for him and in 2005, launched a small collection of six unisex silhouettes focused on knits. These slouchy, intarsia styles were picked up on the party scene by the likes of Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg prompting everyone to ask who the “cool kid with the model friends” was. Almost ten years later and the designer’s eponymous label continue to win over legions of fans with its nonchalant, carefree aesthetic. Perfect layered looks with a long, draped knit or a lightweight jumper; not only do they feel good, but with a pair of skinny jeans and polished ankle boots, they’re a one-way-ticket to achingly cool, everyday dressing.
