The Return Of The Baseball Cap

Posted by Styloko

With the 2012 Games fast approaching (nine days and counting!), it’s hard to ignore Olympic fever – or suitably inspired sportswear – wherever you turn. And, as regular readers will know, we’ve rather warmed to the idea of cool, casual comfort.

But this season’s sports luxe trend goes beyond loose bottoms and baggy sweats – baseball caps made a confident comeback on the SS12 catwalks, proving they can work far beyond their athletic aesthetic would have you believe (yep, they’re feminine and chic). At Topshop Unique, the classic sporty staple was metallic, gold, and stripey, and teamed with bodycon dresses and oversized printed sweaters for an urban street look; at Acne, meanwhile, a monochrome leather star motif nodded towards a more modern version.

The only thing to remember? Whether you opt for a throwback baseball style or a cool, contemporary cap, keep the rest of your look sleek and sportswear-free – you don’t want to look like you’re actually involved in the Games. Take a look at our Baseball Cap Scrapbook for our pick of the best – we’re calling these the ultimate bad hair day fix!
