Say Hello To Fashions Fave New Print: Scarf

Posted by Styloko

Florals, spots, stripes, animal… we hear ya, your wardrobe is packed to bursting point with pretty prints. But this season it won’t be complete without one punchy pattern in particular: the scarf. Vintage silk-inspired prints reigned supreme on the runway for spring/summer 2012, acting like the vibrant sister of tried and tested paisleys – see D&G’s emblazoned handkerchief skirts, DNKY’s jewel tone maxis, and Carven’s beautiful silk shifts.

The trick to making opulent scarf prints work? Keep it chic – opt for luxe fabrics like silk and chiffon, and keep shapes loosely tailored for understated elegance. And, if you’re feeling a little less brave, it’ll translate seamlessly into your accessories via printed silk ankle-tie sandals or, um, scarves (duh).

The other thing we love about this print? It’s perfect for brightening up these unseasonably rainy days. We’re championing River Island’s paper bag pants for day, teamed with a relaxed, slouchy tee and a pair of metallic sandals for easy in-between dressing.

Check out our favourite scarf print numbers for summer in our Scarf Print Scrapbook – we reckon you’ll be converted in a click!
