Get ahead for spring with my-wardrobe’s SS12 trend tips

  Posted Jan 30th, 2012

There’s only one thing putting a smile on our face this flat and (frankly) freezing Monday , and it sure as hell ain’t the imminent ice.  Naturally, we’ve got far sunnier climes on our consciousness, and it’s all down to our super hot friends at my-wardrobe.

We popped along to the e-boutique’s spring/summer 2012 trend presentation last week to sneak a peek at the sartorial stories they’re spotlighting next season, and whether you’re a floral-obsessed fan-girl or a colour-crazed critter, they’ve got everything to whet your well-dressed appetite.

Print

What: floral, digital, animal – print’s hit the prime time next season and is especially effective worn head-to-toe and on trousers.

Brands to look out for: DKNY, Carven, Current Elliot, Elizabeth and James, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Keep an eye out for exciting new brands Stolen Girlfriends Club and Hermoine De Paula for a fashion-forward approach.

Sports Luxe

What: pared-down, relaxed and easy, sports luxe is a key silhouette for spring, but beware of being too literal.  Take inspiration from loose shapes with sporty details – drawstring waistbands, wedge trainers and bowling bag shapes all hint to the look.

Brands to look out for: 3.1 Phillip Lim, See by Chloe Accessories, Jonathan Saunders and Acne.

Acquactic

What: Dive into spring with next season’s obsession for style under the sea. Scuba details, iridescent colours and fluid shapes help create the Disney film fantasy.

Brands to look out for: McQ, Theysken’s Theory, Hermoine De Paula and Acne.

Colour

What: bold brights or pretty pastels, next spring is embracing colour with an artist’s palette.

Brands to look out for: Jonathan Saunders, Carven, 7 For All Mankind, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Equipment and Acne.

Global

What: whether you’re a seasoned traveller or a stay-at-home shopper, this season’s wordly wears know no bounds.  Be inspired by the tones and textures of ethnic textiles and mix and match your must-haves.

Brands to look out for: Carven, A.P.C., Burberry Brit and Antik Batik.
